Letter from the Editors
To the Harrison High School Community,
The Co-Editors-In-Chief of the Husky Herald welcome you to our journalism community!
We are dedicated to supporting the student body of Harrison High School and keeping everyone well-informed through a wide range of articles. We prioritize and incorporate the core pillars of journalism, striving to uphold its integrity in every article we write and publish. Our club is comprised of staff writers involved in all kinds of activities at HHS, from the lacrosse team to the school musical. This diverse group of writers works to bring their unique perspectives to every piece of writing published.
In today’s world, misinformation spreads quickly, often disguised as reliable reporting. Headlines can mislead, stories can be distorted, and the line between truth and rumor is increasingly blurred. In unprecedented times, maintaining journalistic integrity and being open to all perspectives continues to be an important part of being a writer. This makes it all the more important for us as student journalists to remain dedicated to accuracy and integrity. Our goal is not speed or convenience, but truth, carefully researched, clearly written, and responsibly shared. By holding ourselves to this standard, we ensure that the Husky Herald remains a trusted source for our community.
Maxine Hong Kingston, author of The Woman Warrior, once said, “There’s a redemption that takes place in art, and I had resolved questions that would not resolve in life.” When things get hard, we write and create art. By writing, we find a place for ourselves in the world and try to seek answers to our questions. Writing has and will continue to have the power to connect and inspire people. That connection is one of the highlights and core strengths of journalism, finding the story and sharing it with an audience that needs to hear it. The Husky Herald will continue to be a place where that happens.
We would like to thank all the editors who came before us, including Zoe Coric, Emelie Orstreicher, Farrah Frandson, and Annelise Serpa, who together helped bring our club to new heights. They are a tremendous source of inspiration and role models of true leadership.
We are excited to see this club continue to grow, even after we graduate with the Class of 2026. Our underclassmen are passionate, creative, inspired, and above all, empathetic storytellers and writers who will carry on the tradition of journalism.
Yours truly,
Ella Mae Zamek & Natalie Corn
